With technology advances, the construction industry has found other uses of diamonds. Diamond Segmented
Diamond segmented blades have deep segments or cut-outs around the edge of their blade core. These segments allow airflow to cool the blade and help remove the debris from the cutting.
Segmented blades can have a wide selection of diameter sizes. However, they particularly lead the 12” diameter and larger market of diamond saw blades. These blades have medium to hard bonds that can be used in both wet and dry cutting. Moreover, these blades have a longer lifespan compared to other types of diamond saw blades.
The cuts of diamond segmented blades may be smooth and fast, but chipping can still occur. This makes the diamond segmented blades more suitable for dry cutting. These blades are more effective in cutting concrete, asphalt, brick, block, limestone, and other hard materials.
Continuous Rim
Unlike diamond segmented blades, continuous rim blades don’t have any segments or cut-outs. Instead, they have a solid, uninterrupted rim that can cut easily chipped materials. The lack of any segments makes the continuous rim more suitable in wet cutting as the water cools the blade and removes the cut’s debris.
Continuous rim blades may have a size of between 4” to 14” diameters. Small diameter sizes of continuous rims are used in hand-held grinders, while larger sizes are used with circular and tile saws. Although these blades cut slower, they can produce the highest quality cut among all the diamond blade options.
Continuous rim blades are suitable in cutting tile, porcelain, granite, stone, glass, and other related materials.
Turbo Blades
Turbo blades have an uninterrupted rim with a serrated edge. This gives the blade faster cutting speed and at the same time a smooth cut, a great combination between the segmented blades and the continuous rim blades.
Turbo blades have diameter sizes that range from 4” to 12” diameters. All sizes of turbo blades can be used in grinders, circular saws, and tile saws to cut materials. These blades have soft to medium bonds that are suitable for all kinds of work – be it for general purpose or specific cutting. Moreover, the blades can work fine with both dry and wet cutting applications.
Turbo blades can cut the materials that a continuous rim blade cuts. These materials include tile, stone, marble, granite, masonry, and other building materials.
